This journal is not friends-only. Feel free to comment or whatever. I am totally cool with dissenting opinions. Anonymous screening is only on to prevent trolling and pretty much anything gets descreened once I'm at a computer. If you want to add this journal to f-list, go ahead. You don't have to ask permission for that. If you want me to friend back, please ask in a comment because I don't really pay attention to changes in the profile page.

Okay, so I've broken out my old Lexx episode cds for entertainment. This has been no end of amusing, but then, while trying to copy an ep to my hd for fluid watching, this error pops up:

"Cannot copy Lexx - 4x12 - Bad Carrot: Invalid MS-DOS function."

What the hell is going on and dammit, why can't I watch the killer carrots from outer space? I have seriously never seen this error before.

(Also, note for anyone wanting to be clever: I am posting from my Sidekick, which means that 90% of the google searches I do can't be veiwed or read.)

I am so very, very burned out. So much so that my hands are shaking and I'm scarfing down reeses cups to keep up my energy. And, I still have so much left to do. ughhh.

Also, from tomorrow on, I won't have regular internet access. I may post from an internet cafe, but don't expect any regularity.

ETA: Everything that hasn't sold is packed up and in storage. Sorry. Will sell again in three months.

Okay, so, a lot of this I really don't want to get rid of, but I'm moving and it'll probably be gathering dust in storage. So, here's the sales post. I prefer PayPal, and the prices are flexible. These are just ballpark figures, so I can knock them down or raise them depending on popularity and whether people ask nicely. However, I won't go too low because I do need the money. Also, I will ship internationally, but you'll have to pay shipping too. These prices are sans shipping costs, because shipping costs will have to be calculated on an individual basis. I'm adding other things later, but for now it's just Digimon stuff.

I hate apartment/room/house/duplex hunting. Rrrgh. Sent out a couple dozen mails, contacted a couple of apartment hunter services, and nothing yet. My ideal place? The owners haven't contacted me in weeks, not even to decline me, and I'm sorely tempted to go over to their house and ask why they won't grace me with an answer when my lease ends the week after next.

Ugh.

At least I will soon have a car.

Holy crap, Joost seems to have all of Lexx! I love this show so much, it's just so bizarre, satirical, and anti-tropic (the main character/captain is an ugly coward who never gets any, the sexy alien chick will also eat her lovers and will never sleep with the captain, the tall/dark/handsome character is also dead and uninterested in pretty much anything, and the robot hates everyone except the sexy alien chick, who is the subject of many a laughably bad poem). Also, anal-probing killer carrots from outer space (see icon)! And I have such a thing for Eva Habermann, but that's not why I love this show.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch very much because my time is being eaten up by researching for my job, packing, and apartment/duplex hunting. I'd prefer a tiny house, but I won't hold my breath. I have so many books and don't want to get rid of any of them :|. I'll probably get rid of a lot of the Digimon Adventure/02 stuff and some doujinshi, though.

It's my birthday and I get to spend it being tortured by my neighbors. Argh.

Also, no one else writes my pet pairings, so I have nothing to read that isn't written by me or people I've strongarmed or cajoled into writing them. :(.

I think that I will eat cake and watch Battle Royale.

I'm sorry but no, this is wrong. There is nothing funny about advocating beating a kid for being different, even if he or she isn't heteronormative.

I hate people.

Okay, so, I haven't actually written anything in a few days now. This is because of:
1) My neighbors torturing me with noise all the fucking time
2) Making a ton of arrangements in regards to transportation, work, so on and so forth
3) Trying to resume consultation with DARS
4) My lease ends June 30th, so I have to pack up and find a new place to live*
5) Packing up things to give away to Goodwill or sell. Expect a selling post on Sunday or something.

I fail at writing :|.

Just as well that I quit Dive, I won't have the time to keep up, and after June 30th I'm not even sure if I'll be on the internet anymore.

* ETA: Guys, wish me luck! I will soon be in serious talks with the owners of a nice garage apartment in a nice, quiet neighborhood and really, really want that apartment. I have a lot of competition for it, so anything that can help will.

No, I don't know why Millenniumon is my loudest muse.

This was supposed to be the prelude to that Osamu/Ryo AU*, but as I doubt anyone would be interested in me fleshing that out, I'll keep it here for posterity. It's unfinished and rough, but I don't really feel like polishing something that no one would care for. The title is from the Himekami song Sennen no Inori and I had intended to use some Avesta quotes to reference the Zurvan myth (as Zurvan Akarana (Time Unlimited) had made the sacrifice of a thousand years to create Ormadz and Ahriman (Light and Darkness), so on), but the documentation on Zurvan is scant at best and reading the Avestas gives me headaches. So...

* And possibly the Dark Seed saga AND Salva Nos, because it's Millenniumon and if anyone can pull off dozens of AUs spinning from one action, it's him.

I had to bring in Teppei early to get the rest of the chapter to flow :|. So, opening bit of SN 14. Hopefully I'll be done with the rest of the chapter in a few days. Thanks to Akino for helping me with glassmaking questions.

HEY GUYS

A new "missing link"* primate species was found. Huzzah!

I love my newly discovered ancestral relative and look forward to an artist's rendition. Hooray Ida!

I feel the need to save the Google art for posterity, so...

* ETA: Thought I'd add a little more to this.
- A good summary on why there isn't exactly one "missing link" and will never be one.

Dear #COD:

I love you guys so much. Just so you know. Thanks for being smart, funny, quirky, and awesome. I don't even remember when the channel's been founded, but here's to another ~10 years.

Yours,
Faris

---

After this link was posted, the topic of Incan trepanning was brought up in channel today. Being the giant nerd that I was, I dug up the following articles on the subject:
The Skull Doctors, a reprint from a New Scientist article
2008 National Geographic news article
A blog post on trepanning in general, with illustrations. For those who are interested in the subject of neuroscience and philosophy, the base blog Neurophilosophy is well worth the read.

---

I used to go to this place as a kid and kinda want to go again. I will confess to an inordinate fondness for Ye Olden Times. This actually came up because Dad mentioned my sister taking her daughter to Marble Falls and I thought she might like a trip to Pioneer Farms herself, so I went searching the intertubez to see if it was still around. There was a period where its funding was threatened for a while, so it's good to see it still running.

---

Also, I found this article to be rather obvious, but worth reading anyway: A study on family behavior and its effect on gay youth.

---

ETA: Oh wow, I did not know Pioneer Farms held blacksmithing classes. I didn't know they had classes, period. Man, if only I had the time, money, and transportation.

A couple of things:

- Saw "Is Anybody There?" It's cute, though I'm sure some will find it depressing. I rather like it, but death is one of my favorite themes anyway.
- Saw the new Star Trek. It was a bit too shiny for me and I didn't like that the one particularly prominent woman just HAD to be some guy's romantic interest. Women can exist without being some guy's girlfriend/wife too! Also, it is so weird seeing Sylar as Spock. I kept wanting to castrate Kirk. It was a fun romp if you ignore the problems, though. Not being a Trekker, I was a bit disturbed by how many of the original series shoutouts I recognized. I blame Dad, who is a Trekker himself. I did like the new McCoy and Scotty, though.
- Nahuatl dictionary! It's in French mostly, though. Here's a much smaller English-Nahuatl dictionary.
- Oh Russia, why do you do this every time?

Note to self: I need to use Dysnomia for a frontier base.

First, something interesting:

A long, extensive multidisciplinary study into what makes people happy. Well worth reading, especially for anyone interested in the human mind.

Now I have to go to a baseball game. I know very little save for what's shown on tv and movies.
